Established in 1923 in Windhoek (Namibia), the Ohlthaver & List Group (O&L) has a proud history of investing in Namibia's economy and its people. It's core business is diversified investments in a variety of subsidiaries - subdivided into seven industry-related focus groups. O&L stands for for value addition, investements, job creation and the enhancement of socio-economic wealth in Namibia.
Strategic and operational scope:
O&L's strategic objective and mission aims for business growth and significantly supports the enhancement of living conditions and social-economic wealth in line with its vision namely: "To create wealth by building innovative and sustainable businesses and thereby enhancing living conditions and socio-economic wealth". O&L's new corporate strategy, Growth through change 2011, was adopted during January 2008 and will determine the group's new strategic direction for the years 2008 to 2011. The strategy encompasses four critical success factors:
1. Operational excellence
Incorporates the institutionalisation and enhancement of business systems and processes.
2. Human Resources
HR (Human Resources) is the agenda. Delared objective for 2011 is to be amongst the 10 best companies to work for in Southern Africa.
3. Customers/Stakeholders
O&L aims to delight and excite its customers and consumers through supreme relationships characterised by customer orientation and proximity to its consumers’ markets. This demands the institutionalisation of customer feedback mechanisms, and running of customer surveys to measure success.
4. Financial growth
O&L aims for substantial financial growth. With an EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxation) of N$ 312 million budgeted for June 2008, and N$ 760 envisaged for June 2011.
