Kraatz Marine is a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List Group of Companies. The Company was established in 1947 as Kraatz Welding Engineering, and the name was changed to Kraatz Marine in 2002.

Located in Walvis Bay, Kraatz Marine mainly focuses on the repairs and maintenance of vessels operating on the west coast of the African continent and to a greater extent, vessels operating in the off shore oil industry.

Furthermore, the company has established good relations with major ship owners amongst others: Sea Bulk, Tide Water, ABC Maritime, Surf, Smit, Stolt offshore and Seacor.

In addition, Kraatz Marine has good relations and operational agreements with major ship repair companies in Walvis Bay and Southern Africa, such as Dormac, Elgin Brown and Hamer. The agreements involve the utilization of equipment and exchange of expertise.

2. Machining

Kraatz Marine’s adherence to international quality standards has ensured that our workshop is able to accommodate and successfully complete works in accordance with the specifications provided. Experienced (time served) artisans under the full-time leadership of our engineering managers, staff the shops, enabling a high quality of workmanship 24 hours per day.

3. Steel Work

24 Hour operations
The steel division offers a host of repairing and manufacturing procedures. Contracted jobs are completed in the period allowed with attention to quality and customer satisfaction.
Kraatz Marine provides globally competitive steel rates with classification approved materials.
The steel division is able to equip and staff about 20 welders on a 24-hour basis and has a complete complement of manufacturing and repair apparatus at its disposal, including the following:
• Plasma cutters
• Acetylene and oxygen torches
• Diesel welding machines
• Mig and Tig welding machines
• Conventional welding machines
• Full complement of welding consumables
• Comprehensive stock holding of steel plates and tubing

4. Fabrication

Fabrication from ferrous or non-ferrous parts or complete assemblies are quoted on and manufactured on a 24-hour basis. Working in conjunction with the other divisions on a common project, costs are drastically reduced.
Our fabrication shop has an undercover area of 800 square meters which is equipped with cutting, rolling, pressing, welding equipment. The area is serviced with a 16 ton overhead crane.
We also have large open areas available in Walvis Bay which can be used for laying out large constructions.

5. Dry Docking

Kraatz Marine utilizes the Namibian Port Authority's facilities in conjunction with its ship repair services.
The Namibian Ports Authority operates the following ship repair facilities in the Port of Walvis Bay:
Walvis Bay Synchro lift
Maximum length of vessel 80m
Maximum beam 14m
Maximum Draft 5,2m
Maximum displacement 1750 ton

6. Riding Squads

Qualified and experienced teams have joined a vessel at various ports around the world in order to undertake repairs during voyages, limiting idle time of quayside floating repairs.

7. Pipe Work

Kraatz Marine provides a service of repairs and manufacture of pipework in all aspects of marine and industrial applications to transport any and all fluids as required.
Repairs and renewal of pipework systems in materials such as:
• steel
• stainless steel
• copper
• yorcalbro
• cunifer
• PVC

New piping can be hot and cold formed or fabricated.
